Dear Readers,
Traveling is synonymous with my identity. My father was an executive with a major international airline. I have worked as a flight attendant, and I married a commercial pilot. The urge to explore new territory and feel the rush of discovery has not dissipated with our recent move to beautiful Arizona. I most likely will be jet-setting in August to seek new adventures and stories for my columns.
We had lived for eight years in the Sonoran Desert, but when my husband was transferred by his airline to the east coast, I chose to return to live in South Florida, where I began writing Tropical Tales. This column will now be written under the title: Desert Tales, as I tell stories about local events. But there is nothing "dry" about this desert! With sweeping mountain vistas, starry evenings, and gorgeous colorful cacti in bloom, Arizona is the epitome of the romantic Old West: a fusion of Native American, Hispanic and old cowboy West. When you think of the "Wild West," the majestic Grand Canyon, dude ranches, expeditions, gold mining, and Mexican architecture comes to mind; yet there is also the mix of the sophisticated, educated, European flavor with their gourmet cuisine, five-star hotels, magnificent golf courses, elegant boutiques, and plastic surgeons, that draws world-wide tourism here like a horse-shoe magnet.
As Roy Rogers used to sing: 'HAPPY TRAILS" to you, as I embark upon another one of my writing adventures, completely invigorated and ready to embrace a new lifestyle.
Don't miss my first episode of January's Desert Tales.
